Hiwassee River - After an excellent spring and June season on the river, the Hiwassee was slow to turn on this fall. Our fall weather simply doesn't cool off as quickly as it once did. As of December 1st, it is now full of eager trout and fishing like a rock star. We are currently enjoying high fish count days with some real quality coming to the net also. December through June are the very best times to fish here. We enjoy winter catch and release regulations and virtually no recreational floaters until Memorial day. Early spring in the inflatables is exceptional.
Cumberland River - Due to less early season precip in the basin, we were able to get on the water sooner than the last few years. We took advantage of this with a few May and June trips. As usual, the river really fished its best from July through November. I expect 2024 to be very similar to this year. The Cumberland River holds more high quality trout than any other in the southeast. If you are thinking about fishing the Cumberland in '24, please call or email me directly and as early as possible. Logistics here can take some additional coordination and the guides are often hard to reach and may not know their exact daily schedules as I am booking the calendar while they are on the water.
Remember, the Hiwassee River is fishing great and a great escape from cabin fever for you during the next few months.
We have plenty of gift certificates available for last minute Christmas ideas.
Happy Holidays and thanks again for a great 25. As always, call me to book these trips or to just talk about fishing.
